Preview, Predicted XI and Prediction: FK Krasnodar Vs Chelsea

Chelsea travel to Russia to face FK Krasnodar in the Champions League on Match Day 2 with all four Group E clubs all tied on one point after two draws in the opening round of fixtures.

As we know Chelsea tied 0-0 with Sevilla last week and followed it up with another 0-0 draw on the weekend vs United at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

The two clean sheets for the Blues will have pleased Frank Lampard after the team had conceded nine goals in the first five Premier League games including shipping three goals against both West Brom and Southampton.

The partnership of Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma is starting to look like it may Lampard’s 1st choice pairing however multiple reports are suggesting the Chelsea boss may be ready to bring Antonio Rudiger back into his first team plans allowing the 35 year old Silva to have a rest. Lampard may resist this temptation however considering his team have just produced two solid defensive performances in a row and he may want the players to continue their streak and not risk defensive issues.

Kepa is injured as we reported yesterday and Mendy is likely to get the call to play over Caballero. Marcos Alonso along with Billy Gilmour are the only other Chelsea players out for the match.

We see the predicted XI like this:

—————Mendy——————

–Azpilicueta–Silva-Zouma–Emerson–

—–Kante—-Kovacic—-Jorginho—–

—-Mount—–Abraham—–Pulisic—-

Prediction: FK Krasnodar 1-2 Chelsea
