Jose Mourinho: "We played very, very, well"

Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho was thrilled to see his side walking away from Selhurst Park with all three points, after a controversial win against Crystal Palace.

In a game marred by terrible officiating, United very lucky not to have a player sent off and a goal awarded in their favour in the first half. In the second half their luck turned with a perfectly good goal disallowed and a penalty decision not given their way, but a late strike from Zlatan Ibrahimovic sealed a much needed three points for the Red Devils, helping them keep pace with the teams above them in the Premier League standings, all of whom with the exception of Arsenal, winning in midweek.

Speaking with the BBC after the match, Jose said, "It was very difficult but very deserved. In the first half we were in control. In the second half they had a little reaction and got the bonus of the goal and then we went into our best period of the game.  For 20 minutes we were almost unstoppable. Their goalkeeper made a magnificent save from Rooney's shot, we had Mata's goal, a penalty (appeal) and our goal. It was an amazing reaction and I am really pleased for the players."

Mourinho was also predictably chuffed with Zlatan Ibrahimovic's performance, with the Super Swede netting his 14th goal of this his debut season in the Premier League.

Speaking about the veteran striker, Mourinho said, "He did a phenomenal performance. After the goal to have the strength and spirit to go in front of the back four and defend. It was an amazing performance for a guy who is 35-years-old, scoring goals, being a leader, amazing."

The Special One stayed clear of controversy, refusing to comment on the referee's performance, instead focusing on how his side played. Jose said, "We played very, very, well. It was a big evolution. People sometimes forget about good performances and focus on results. We are still sixth so need points."
